Along with virtually every other American weathering what’s likely the most unique time of our lives, my at-home time has afforded me the opportunity to catch up on various projects. One of which is planning topics and creating a schedule for future blog posts.
While working at my computer recently, an email from a friend arrived in my inbox. The image that greeted me was quite interesting. It depicted a new ’59 Pontiac convertible in a dealership showroom who was using it to advertise its Kleenex tissue promotion.
A quick search revealed that during the summer of 1959, Bill McDavid Pontiac in Fort Worth, Texas partnered with the tissue company to provide 1959 Pontiac buyers with a one-year supply of tissues. While certainly a unique promotional approach, I’m unsure of the connection between the two companies and am unaware of any other Pontiac dealer that participated in it.
